Additional nutritional support program benefits approved for July

SPRINGFIELD, MO. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service approved Missouri’s waiver request to provide Pandemic Supplement Nutritional Aid Program (P-SNAP) benefits for July.

Each household receives the maximum SNAP amount for its household size. Missouri SNAP benefits include a temporary 15 percent increase through September 30, 2021.

“P-SNAP was a very important benefit for Missouri families during the pandemic,” said Jennifer Tidball, acting director of the Department of Social Services. “However, Missouri residents need to prepare and plan for the eventual return of regular SNAP benefits in the coming months.”

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is taking steps to bring this to the attention of SNAP recipients and to facilitate the return of regular SNAP / Food Stamp program benefits.

Important upcoming changes to the SNAP / Food Stamp program:

  • July: Letter sent to Missouri SNAP recipients about upcoming SNAP changes.
  • August: Last month for P-SNAP benefits and Missouri resumed SNAP recertification talks.
  • September: Last month for temporary 15% SNAP increase.
  • October: Resumption of the regular SNAP benefits.
