Bourne Police Protocols – May 17-22 June 2021 | Bourne details & documents

The following are excerpts from the Bourne Police Department minutes from Thursday June 17 through Tuesday June 22.

Thursday June 17th

Police responded to an East Rotary car accident at 2:14 a.m. The driver of a gray 2011 Kia sedan approached the scenic highway roundabout at high speed and crashed into a ditch. The car had to be pulled out. The driver was identified as Lawrence Saklad, 66, from Southampton, Pennsylvania. Mr. Saklad was not injured in the crash. He was charged with speeding and violating the marked lanes.

At 8:49 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Sandwich Road. The driver of a gray 2007 Honda Accord had slowed down to turn left onto the street leading to the Christmas Tree Shops. The driver of a black 2003 Ford F-350 finished the Accord. The Accord driver and a passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment for minor injuries. The Accord had to be towed from the crime scene. No quotations were given.

At 5.47 p.m. the police were called to the scene of the accident where two vehicles had crashed with a motorcycle. The accident occurred at the junction of Trowbridge Road and Sandwich Road in the Five Corners district of Bourne. The driver of a 2003 blue Saturn Ion was on Trowbridge, approaching the intersection with Sandwich. The rider of a gray 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle approached the same intersection and tried to turn left, colliding with the Saturn and hitting a street sign. The rider of the motorcycle was identified as Gregory McGaffigan, 21, of West Barnstable. Both drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Mr. McGaffigan was quoted for not giving in.

Friday June 18th

At 7:24 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Clay Pond Road and County Road. The driver of a blue 2018 Toyota RAV4 was parked at the intersection of Beach Road and County Road and drove through towards Clay Pond Road. The driver, identified as Zariah Lima, 23, from Wareham, collided with a blue 2006 Jeep Wrangler. The driver of the jeep was on County Road and had right of way. The driver of the jeep was taken to a local hospital for shoulder pain treatment. Ms. Lima was charged with neglect.

Police responded to an accident involving three vehicles on the scenic highway at 2:57 p.m. The driver of a gray 2015 BMW attempted an illegal U-turn on the autobahn due to the heavy traffic. The BMW collided with a black 2018 Chevrolet Camaro that was spinning into a gray 2017 Toyota Tacoma pickup. The driver of the Camaro was rushed to hospital with minor injuries. Both the BMW and the Camaro had to be towed. The driver of the BMW was identified as Nicholas Pratt, 40, from Bourne. Mr. Pratt has been charged with an improper turn of phrase.

An arrest was made on Puritan Road at 3:12 p.m. The police were called into the apartment because of a trespassing complaint. When they arrived, they found that the suspect, identified as Colleen F. Carreiro, 27, of Bourne, had three Falmouth District Court arrest warrants for parole violations. Two of the arrest warrants accused Ms. Carreiro of breaking and entering a vehicle / boat at night for a crime and one accused her of strangulation or suffocation. She was arrested on the warrant and held without bail. She was brought to trial in Falmouth District Court on Monday, June 21st.

Saturday June 19th

At 1:07 am, police made an arrest at Cumberland Farms on Main Street in Buzzards Bay. Officials were sent to the store over reports of a nuisance customer identified as Holly A. Chandler, 61, of Bourne. Staff said the store had an injunction against Ms. Chandler that was issued in September 2018. Ms. Chandler yelled that the order was fake, which worried customers in the store. She refused to obey the officers’ orders to calm down and leave. She also resisted when the police tried to take her into custody. She was eventually arrested and charged with trespassing and resisting arrest. She was later released on personal approval.

At 6:17 p.m. the police were called about a two car accident at the Otis Rotary. A white 2016 Acura sedan and gray 2017 GMC Sierra drove north into the roundabout. The Sierra was cut off from an unidentified vehicle, causing the Sierra driver to hit the brakes. The driver of the Acura has driven the Sierra, the police said. Both vehicles were towed away. Police identified the Acura driver as Roger Fairbanks, 62, of Falmouth. Mr. Fairbanks was issued a subpoena for negligence in slowing down and stopping.

Sunday June 20th

An arrest was made at 10:42 p.m. on the Scenic Highway. An officer on patrol saw the driver of a brown 2017 Toyota Tacoma heading towards Sagamore in the lanes towards Buzzards Bay. The driver came into the highway lanes several times before the officer stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Calbert M. Vieira, 31, of New Bedford. Mr. Vieira smelled strongly of alcohol when he spoke and showed clear signs of intoxication. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. He was accused of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligently driving a motor vehicle, violating the lane and driving incorrectly on a federal highway. Mr. Vieira’s vehicle was towed from the scene and later released after personal discovery.

Tuesday June 22nd

Police were called to the scene of a single car near the Bourne Bridge Rotary at 2:05 a.m. The driver of a red 2008 Dodge Charger came over the bridge and turned right on Trowbridge Road. The driver, identified as Abel Garon, 37, of Framingham, tried to turn back on Trowbridge Road but drove too fast. Mr. Garon hit the curb and lost control of his car. The car had to be towed and Mr. Garon was taken to a local hospital for treatment for a possible leg injury. He was charged with speeding, violating the lane and U-turn where it was prohibited.
